Advanced Programme in Veterinary Nursing of Zoo and Exotic Species (APVN)
Previously known as the Certificate in Vet Nursing of Exotic Species this programme has been running for 22 years and covers avian, reptiles/amphibians, small mammals, wildlife and now zoo animals.
Designed for vet nurses and vet technicians who want to undertake further study and gain new knowledge, it covers a range of topics from anatomy and physiology, through to nutrition, anaesthesia, emergency and critical care, fluid therapy, husbandry and nursing of common diseases of a variety of non-cat and dog species including rabbits, guinea pigs, other small mammals, birds, reptiles and wildlife. The zoo programme also looks at conservation, reintroduction medicine and the zoo industry.
Available to vet nurses and technicians worldwide, as all assessment is now online - no need to travel to the UK for an exam.

Vet Nursing of Exotics: 20th Anniversary
Established in 2001, the Certificate in Veterinary Nursing of Exotic Species has evolved in to the Advanced Programme. Created and delivered by Zoo and Exotics Specialist, Simon Girling, the suite of programmes has supported the development of the Veterinary Nursing Profession, enabling students to go on to work in referral practices, zoos, conservation and education.
